Lyle Collister's first memories of art are from her childhood in Kansas City where her grandmother was a dorm mother for women art students and
lived near the Nelson Art Gallery. "I loved the smell of paint and the clothing covered in paint that the girls wore." She was fascinated by images that would appear on their canvasses and decided that she wanted to be an artist.

After her family moved to Arizona she put her love of art aside and decided to take her mother's advice of establishing a career in landscape design in Tucson. Drawing and design kept her creative spirit alive. She married and moved to Madera Canyon with her husband, David, where they operated the Santa Rita Lodge for more than thirty years. She studied watercolor with local artists and painted when she could.

David and Lyle sold their inn and moved to Rio Rico. Lyle found studio space in Tubac and discovered oils. She taught herself by reading and watching videos of her favorite artists and was able to take classes from several oil painters who she admired.

Her work is shown at her own studio/gallery and boutique in Tubac, Arizona. Lily's is located at 19 Tubac Road in the Mercado Plaza. She is a member of Tubac Center For The Arts, American Women Artists, and has been juried into Oil Painters of America as an associate member. Her work has been juried into local competitions and hangs in homes, churches and offices around the country.
